Tickle My Nerd Bone

Trogdor the Burninator… apparently!

Our resident geek, Chris, has produced a lovely Trogdor Van Video & Photos page. If you don’t know what a Trogdor or a Strongbad is or even how to Burninate Peasants then relax, it means you’re a normal, functional human being. Otherwise, go forth and giggle with nerdly glee at the Wicked Trogdor & Strongbad Campervan. Share it with your friends and give it a digg so that your fellow geeks may also find amusement.

Wicked Cannonball Run

Wicked Cannonball Run

In case you missed the post from a couple of days ago about the Wicked Adventure Rally you should go read it now. If you’d like to visit the website we made especially for the event, kindly follow the link below:

The Wicked Adventure Rally, a Wicked Cannonball Run down the East Coast of Australia

What is the Wicked Cannonball Run?

Wicked Cannonball Run is in fact the Wicked Adventure Rally. Wicked Cannonball Run was the working title we used to describe the event before we settled on the name, Wicked Adventure Rally.

What is a Cannonball Run?

You may or may not have heard of the 1981 movie “The Cannonball Run”

A wild, illegal, and popular cross-country car is organized, and the eccentric entrants will do anything to win, including low-down, dirty tricks.

In this movie Burt Reynolds is an adventurer who decides to participate in an illegal car race all over the country. There is an all-star cast of racers (Jackie Chan, Farrah Fawcett, Peter Fonda, Dean Martin, Roger Moore, Sammy Davis Jr. and others) that will do anything to outrun all the difficulties (including the police) and win the race.

The Wicked Adventure Rally will not really be anything like the movie but it did provide us with the original inspiration for the event.

Why write a post titled Wicked Cannonball Run?

Well, TNT Magazine Downunder featured the Wicked Adventure Rally in their TNT Extra newsletter and they described the event as the Wicked Cannonball Run. We’ve also referred to the event as a Wicked Cannonball Run in our promotional materials. I did a search on google for that phrase and noticed that we weren’t ranking for it, so I’m writing this post in the hope that the big G will pick it up and know what’s what.

One more time for good luck: Wicked Cannonball Run

Wicked Campers, the Brisbane based camper hire company renowned for it’s brightly painted campervans is now taking entrants for the inaugural Wicked Adventure Rally.

Wicked Vans

What is the Wicked Adventure Rally?

The Rally is set to be 12 days of fun and adventure, touring along the coast from Brisbane to Sydney then inland towards Melbourne. The event will be held from November 5th – 16th. A $500 prize is up for grabs for the winning team.

When asked how the rally came about, Dave Kinkead, General Manager for Wicked Campers said,

“We thought an organised adventure rally would be a great opportunity for adventure-seekers to experience a real Australian road adventure, seeing a lot of places on and off the beaten track, while also getting some great deals on accommodation and attractions along the way. We are also sure to get a lot of attention along the way with our brightly coloured vans touring in an expected convoy of around 40”.

Mr Kinkead stresses that this is not a speed race, rather an opportunity to join other like-minded individuals to travel a corner of Australia together, and potentially win $500. Entrants will gain points through challenges along the way, rather than a first past the post winner. The team who gains the most points during the event will win the first prize and there will be other prizes up for grabs.

Wicked Adventure Rally Pitstop Locations

The Rally kicks off in Brisbane on Monday 5 November. Stops during the first week include Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle, with the first week culminating in Sydney. Rally entrants are given two days off on the Saturday and Sunday to rest and take in the sights in and around the Sydney region, resuming in Canberra on the Monday. The second week of the rally will tour through country NSW and Victoria, passing through the border town of Albury-Wondonga then making a beeline for Bendigo. Before heading into Melbourne on the last day, Monday 12 November, contestants will be treated to spectacular views along the Great Ocean Road.
